❤️ Weeks 25–28

The Perfect Time to Meet Your Baby’s Sweet Little Face

👶 Your Baby

Welcome to one of the most exciting milestones of pregnancy! During Weeks 25–28, your baby’s features become beautifully developed, and layers of healthy baby fat begin filling out those adorable little cheeks. Although your little one is still growing rapidly, there is usually plenty of amniotic fluid surrounding them, allowing for some of the most beautiful ultrasound images during pregnancy.

By now, your baby’s eyes can open and close, eyelashes and eyebrows are visible, and tiny expressions become easier to recognize. It’s not uncommon to catch your baby smiling, yawning, stretching, sucking their thumb, or even sticking out their tongue during an ultrasound session.

Many parents say this is the stage when their baby truly begins to look like the newborn they’ll soon be holding in their arms.

✔️ Sweet smiles and adorable yawns

✔️ Thumb sucking

✔️ Tiny stretches

✔️ Hands resting against the face

✔️ Baby grasping the umbilical cord

✔️ Gentle hiccups

✔️ Active kicking and rolling

Because babies still have room to move comfortably while developing fuller facial features, this stage often provides wonderful opportunities for memorable keepsake images.

💜 At Hello Sweet Baby

This is one of our most requested stages for elective 3D and 4D ultrasounds. Families are often amazed by the incredible detail they can see—from tiny noses and button lips to little fingers curled against baby’s cheeks.

Our goal is to create a relaxing experience where you can simply enjoy watching your baby move, stretch, and grow while sharing these unforgettable moments with the people you love most.

Every baby is unique, and image quality can vary depending on baby’s position, the placenta, maternal body type, and amniotic fluid levels. If your little one decides to hide their face, we’ll always do our very best to capture as many beautiful moments as possible.

💜 HSB Tip

Hydration matters!

Drinking plenty of water every day during the week leading up to your appointment may help support healthy amniotic fluid levels, which can sometimes improve ultrasound image quality. While no one can guarantee perfect pictures, staying well hydrated is one of the easiest ways to prepare for your session.

🌟 Did You Know?

By this stage, your baby is dreaming during sleep! Researchers believe babies begin experiencing periods of REM sleep around this time—the same sleep stage associated with dreaming after birth.

💖 From Our Heart to Yours

“These are often the images families frame, place in baby books, and treasure for years to come. Watching parents smile through happy tears as they recognize a tiny nose, a familiar smile, or little chubby cheeks is one of the greatest privileges we have. Falling in Love With Every Little Detail

👶 Your Baby

Your baby is entering one of the most exciting stages of development! During Weeks 29–32, your little one continues gaining healthy body fat, giving those tiny arms, legs, and cheeks the soft, cuddly appearance you’ll recognize after birth.

As your baby’s brain develops rapidly, movements become more purposeful, and sleep and wake cycles become more predictable. Although your little one still has room to stretch and roll, the space inside the womb is gradually becoming more limited.

Many babies begin settling into a head-down position during this stage, preparing for the exciting weeks ahead.

✔️ Sweet chubby cheeks

✔️ Eyes opening and blinking

✔️ Smiling

✔️ Yawning

✔️ Thumb sucking

✔️ Hands resting against the face

✔️ Baby grabbing their feet

✔️ Stretching and rolling

✔️ Tiny breathing movements

✔️ Beautiful facial details

Many babies now look remarkably similar to how they’ll appear at birth, making this one of the most emotional stages for expectant parents.

💜 At Hello Sweet Baby

These weeks often create some of the most treasured ultrasound memories. Parents frequently comment on how much their baby already resembles family members, noticing familiar noses, lips, or smiles for the very first time.

Because your baby is still developing while maintaining enough room to move comfortably, this stage continues to provide wonderful opportunities for beautiful keepsake images.

Every pregnancy is unique, and image quality depends on factors such as baby’s position, placental location, maternal body type, and amniotic fluid levels. If your little one decides to hide their face, we’ll patiently work to capture as many memorable moments as possible.

💜 HSB Tip

Your baby’s position changes everything!

Sometimes babies love showing off their little faces, while other times they prefer cuddling close to the placenta or turning toward mom’s back. A short walk, changing positions, or simply giving baby a little more time can sometimes encourage movement—but every baby decides when they’re ready for their close-up!

🌟 Did You Know?

By around 32 weeks, your baby has developed many of the facial expressions you’ll recognize after birth. During your ultrasound, you may catch a smile, a yawn, a pout, or even a funny little expression that melts your heart.

💖 From Our Heart to Yours

“This is often when parents say, ‘I think she has my eyes,’ or ‘He has his daddy’s nose!’ Watching families fall in love with the tiny details of their baby’s face is one of the greatest joys we experience. These are the moments that become cherished memories long before your little one arrives.”

The Final Countdown

As your baby grows, the available space inside the womb becomes smaller. Some babies happily show off their faces, while others prefer to snuggle close to the placenta, tuck their chin, or rest facing Mom’s back. Even if your little one is feeling shy, every ultrasound is a unique opportunity to bond and create lasting memories. Our experienced scanners will always do everything possible to capture the best images your baby is willing to share.

👶 Your Baby

The day you’ve been dreaming about is almost here! During the final weeks of pregnancy, your baby continues gaining weight, building healthy layers of body fat, and preparing for life outside the womb. Their lungs, brain, and nervous system are putting the finishing touches on development while they become stronger with each passing day.

As your baby grows, the space inside the womb becomes much more limited. Most babies settle into a head-down position in preparation for birth, making their movements feel stronger but less dramatic than before. Although there is less room to stretch and roll, your little one is still busy blinking, swallowing, sucking their thumb, practicing breathing movements, and responding to the familiar voices of loved ones.

Week 40: About the size of a Small Watermelon

  • Length: Approximately 20–21 inches
  • Weight: About 7½–8 pounds

🩺 What You May See During Your Ultrasound

During these exciting final weeks, you may be able to see:

✔️ Beautiful chubby cheeks

✔️ Eyes opening and blinking

✔️ Sweet smiles and adorable yawns

✔️ Thumb sucking

✔️ Tiny breathing movements

✔️ Hands resting near the face

✔️ Hair (sometimes!)

✔️ Full facial features

✔️ Baby peacefully sleeping or stretching

✔️ Precious little expressions that often resemble how your baby will look after birth

Because babies are much larger during this stage, they may keep their hands in front of their face, snuggle closely against the placenta, or tuck their chin, making some views more challenging than earlier in pregnancy.

💜 At Hello Sweet Baby

Every late-pregnancy ultrasound is unique. While some babies happily show off their adorable faces, others prefer to stay cozy in their favorite position. Our experienced sonographers will patiently work to capture the very best images possible while creating a relaxing, memorable experience for your family.

Many of the beautiful keepsake images displayed throughout our studio were captured during these later weeks, proving that amazing moments can still happen right up until delivery.

💜 HSB Tip

Baby’s position matters more than timing.

Even at 38 or 39 weeks, some babies give incredible facial views, while others may decide they’re camera shy. Every session is special because it gives you another opportunity to bond with your little one before birth.

If your baby isn’t showing their face clearly, don’t be discouraged. Sometimes simply changing positions, taking a short walk, or giving baby a little time can make all the difference.

🌟 Did You Know?

By the final weeks of pregnancy, your baby can recognize the voices they hear most often. Many newborns are comforted by familiar voices immediately after birth because they’ve been listening to them for weeks while growing safely inside the womb.

💖 From Our Heart to Yours
